Five levels of politeness

When we speak in English being too direct could sound rude, so we need to soften our expressions. English needs more signals than other languages.

To sound polite in English the rule is that the more indirect you are the politer you are. There are several ways to do this:

Kind of schools in the UK

Private schools: they charge fees and don't follow the national curriculum. They are inspected regularly.

Voluntary Aided Schools: state-funded school in which a trust contributes to the building costs and has influence in the running of the school.
